Soft Fruits & Biodiversity in Gourdinne

Soft Fruits & Biodiversity in Gourdinne

Panier Culture is a market gardening project started in 2012. Developed by Sophie and Denis, it relies on a motivated collective. Thus, market gardening on a human scale. And while the pursuit of taste is the main driver of this project, respect for the soil and price accessibility are its other pillars.

PlantC has chosen to support their project of linear diversified hedges. Linear plantings to produce soft fruits, for biodiversity and for biomass.

Project Supported by

multifunctional hedges

These hedges allow Panier Culture to strengthen the diversification of its products by producing small fruits and biomass. This also helps to protect crops from wind, limit erosion and improve biodiversity by attracting pollinators and beneficial insects against
pests. This project was conceived and co-financed with the help of PlantC and the company Trafic as part of their TakeCare sustainability program. In total, 662 meters of hedges have been planted!

The planting of the rows took place in March 2025 after intense rainy periods. To prevent weed growth at the base of the hedge plants and ensure good management of the rows, we opted for the installation of a biodegradable geotextile.

The hedge row is composed of hawthorn, dog rose, rowan*… A mixture of more than 8 different species of native trees and shrubs are now planted.
