Because it concerns us all

PlantC empowers everyone to take action in Belgium for the climate and biodiversity.

The Need to Act

PlantC arose from a fundamental need to implement actions concrete, now, without delay, and in Belgium.
You feel a need to act to overcome a feeling of powerlessness, of eco-anxiety. PlantC offers you a way to fight against resignation.

We know that we are not alone in feeling this sense of urgency. That is why we enable every committed citizen to support our local projects.

Understanding PlantC

A Visible Impact Close to You

PlantC also enables individuals to support local projects developed in Belgium. The common denominators of these projects are: biodiversity & climate.

  • Protecting agricultural crops against climatic and health hazards,
  • Improving animal welfare,
  • Fighting erosion of soil, flooding events, and preserving water resources,
  • Restoring habitat and providing resources for wildlife in decline,
  • Leading reforestation resilient projects against climatic and health hazards,
  • Sequestering carbon.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is possible to commission us to coordinate a community planting event. Please note three key elements: Firstly, planting takes place in autumn/winter. Secondly, this requires coordination time, the purchase of plants, and facilitation on the day of the event. Consequently, you would co-finance the project. Thirdly, this needs to be organized in advance. It is a project that requires advance planning. If we are in the middle of the planting season (autumn/winter), it will be more difficult for us to fulfill your request. Typically, our community planting events focus on planting hedges or orchards. In forests, the methodology is more complex. Lastly, we prioritize groups of 10 to 25 people.

Belgium’s forests cover 23% of the national territory (700,000 ha). The majority of forest areas are located in Wallonia (79.8%), 19.9% in the Flemish Region, and only 0.3% in the Brussels-Capital Region. Essentially, we will do our best, but please note that most of our projects are in Wallonia for this reason.

At each key stage of the project, we will inform you by email of its progress (e.g., project in progress, funded, completed…). We also verify, especially for plantings, that the survival rate is satisfactory in the spring following the planting. When projects reach 5 years, we re-establish contact with the beneficiary. This does not prevent ongoing dialogue with them in the interim through our communication channels. Furthermore, we invite contributors to visit the completed project and meet the beneficiary. These visits can be exclusive or grouped, depending on the number of contributors per project and registered participants.

We primarily work with private landowners. Public land is already very well managed by public services. To date, we have not received any requests regarding this.

Please feel free to learn about the type of project that we support. You are also welcome to tell your network about us.

Change lies in the power of collaborating together! We are accustomed to working with organizations that are also very active in the field and are dismayed when a project is hindered by a lack of knowledge, technical expertise, or funding. Are you frustrated by a project that isn’t progressing? Stuck? Let’s discuss it; we will see what we can achieve together!

Our Community of committed contributors! These include citizens, large companies, and individual entrepreneurs. The common denominator? Their desire, like yours, to implement projects for the benefit of the environment.

To choose is to forgo! We have chosen to focus on the resilience Belgium needs to build. Therefore, all our projects are located in Belgium, where our help is needed.

We add a fee to the project cost, which enables us to carry out our work: conducting site visits, coordinating the project (from its technical specifications to its follow-up), communicating with beneficiaries and with you, prospecting, etc. We ensure that this fee does not exceed the project’s overall cost. This is why we have decided to support projects of a certain scale. For “smaller” projects, we find alternative solutions.
