Let spring begin!

At the end of March 2022, PlantC, together with the Royal Forestry Society of Belgium, visited a forest plantation project in Ophain. Our clients present experienced a complete immersion.

During this visit, the forester reminded us how crucial it is for citizens and businesses to get involved in reforestation projects in Belgium. Indeed, managing plantations can be challenging for foresters. This is partly due to the difficulty of uniting family members around the cause, and also because global changes impacting our forests can discourage foresters’ ambitions. Without the assistance of the Royal Forestry Society of Belgium (SRFB), a key partner of PlantC, the management of forest plots would be increasingly neglected. This support is provided through upstream technical assistance and subsequent financial aid.

Why this visit?

TO MAKE THE CHALLENGES OF BELGIAN FOREST REFORESTATION TANGIBLE… TO MOVE FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE… TO ILLUSTRATE THE FACTS…

During this visit, we also observed the damage caused by recent storms. This interplay between stability and disturbances within an environment plays a significant role in promoting biodiversity. This creates new openings in the forest area, providing access for sunlight and ultimately allowing new woody or herbaceous plants to emerge. If trunks are left on the ground, this allows certain fauna to thrive and inhabit the area (soil fauna, fungi, bacteria, insects, etc.), which themselves serve as food sources in the trophic network.

Through this article, we wanted to remind you how crucial your support is for the Belgian forest. We also wanted to share the beauty of nature awakening at the start of spring!

For the Belgian forest, thank you!
