For three years, PlantC has been supporting Safran Aero Boosters in the development of biodiversity at its two Belgian sites.

In 2019, Safran Aero Boosters chose to establish a Sustainable Development Department, which defined its first three areas of work: reducing carbon emissions from its sites by increasing the share of renewable energies, developing soft mobility, and increasing biodiversity on production sites and their direct environment.
And things moved quickly: the company obtained the Réseau Nature label, awarded by Natagora for public and private spaces that respect and protect nature by initiating large-scale projects: planting a 1.5 km triple-row hedge, digging two ponds, and considering the management of the site’s green spaces,…
Maintain and manage existing elements:

The implementation of installations is only the beginning of the process, which involves establishing a management plan. This includes weeding young hedges, watering them in case of drought, carrying out late mowing, implementing differentiated management of green spaces, etc.
Expand ambitions and implement new developments:
Creation of three new networked ponds, planting of over 400 meters of triple-row hedge meeting specific objectives, creation of two flower meadows totaling 1.3 ha, installation of biodiversity-friendly equipment (elements for nesting boxes for passerines, raptors, insects, bats, amphibians, and reptiles),…

Raise awareness among staff, and contribute to the dissemination of these practices among site employees and within neighboring companies.

The integration of educational panels alongside the developments is a good example of this. We can also mention the organization of a biodiversity workshop during the family day organized by the industrial company, which raised awareness among over 700 people with excellent feedback!
Get involved for biodiversity with PlantC
These projects, covering an impact area of several hectares, must not make us forget that every surface and every action counts. Every company has levers of impact regarding biodiversity, whether it acts on its land, however limited, raises awareness among its employees, or supports external projects.

Do not hesitate to request a discussion with our project managers; let us explore together the scope of your biodiversity impact!
