What does a €15 contribution to PlantC achieve?

Since its creation, PlantC has registered hundreds of contributors and you are surely already one of them. Therefore, a big thank you to you!

Imagine waking up on a gentle Sunday morning, under the first rays of a spring sun filtering through your blinds. You hear the birds singing, the first pollinators becoming active in search of pollen. You wonder how you could ensure this beautiful nature persists and you start looking for a solution.

Bingo! You come across the PlantC page: https://plantc.be/actions/

Our Commitment: Transparency

Because transparency is an integral part of our values, PlantC assures you that at least half of your financial contribution will be allocated to direct support for planting in agricultural projects.

Regarding forestry projects, out of the €3 excl. VAT per tree, the cost distribution is €1 for the forester, €1 * for the SRFB (* training support, the amount increases to €1.20 for a PEFC project) and €1 for PlantC.

You have a budget of €15…

You have a budget of €15 and you are wondering how to invest it? So, what does PlantC offer? Hmm, not easy! What to choose between:

  • Animal welfare,
  • Carbon sequestration,
  • And the local strengthening of biodiversity?

If the choice is truly too complicated, you will notice that you can view all ongoing planting projects: https://plantc.be/actions/?all

Take the test

Here is a small guide to help you choose. The goal is to select what you prefer. You can refer to the point system; the goal is to score (1) or (2) based on your preference, and at the end, you will see which number you have in the majority.

  1. Do you prefer a walk in the forest (1) or a visit to the farm (2)?
  2. Is eating local more important to me (2) than using local wood for my home furniture (1)?
  3. Do I prefer to see a beautiful flowering hedge (2) than a diversified forest (1)?
  4. The red-backed shrike holds no secrets for me (2), and I also know the pine marten very well (1).

If you have more (1), then we suggest a reforestation project. Conversely, if you have more (2), then we suggest an agricultural project through the planting of a hedge or an orchard.

Four cumulative objectives:

Regardless, all projects on the PlantC platform must meet four cumulative objectives:

  • Support biodiversity, through the creation or restoration of habitats or ecological corridors.
  • Contribute to carbon sequestration in soils or biomass, through photosynthesis.
  • Contribute to the adaptation of our territories by mitigating one or more risks: limiting soil erosion and mudslides, limiting the impact of cold or drying winds on crops, providing shade or alternative food resources for livestock, etc.
  • Contribute to a bio-based economy where humans and nature work in synergy: production of plants, biomass, fruits, etc.

So, have you made your choice? You will then notice that there is a small infographic to guide you to show you the impact of your project across the entire chain.

Consequently, even if it was not your primary choice, you still have a minimum impact in each area.

Currently, we have these projects on the platform, so go check them out!
