The Context

The Chassart project was born from a strong family desire: to stay on the land, develop it, and restore its full potential. Rather than turning the page, the family chose to envision an agricultural future based on the long term, biodiversity, and authenticity.

The ambition: to diversify crops, by integrating hazelnut trees, convert the land to organic farming, implement complementary hedge arrangements, in order to create a coherent project combining production, respect for the soil, and landscape integration.

PlantC’s Support

PlantC was involved from the initial discussions to embed the project in a solid agroecological approach adapted to the site.

Site Visit with Anouchka

In November 2025, a field visit was conducted by Romain, in Anouchka’s presence, in order to:

  • understand the expectations and the family’s vision,
  • observe the soil conditions and landscape conditions,
  • analyze the site’s constraints and potential.

Based on this, PlantC proposed a composition taking into account:

  • the soil characteristics,
  • existing and future uses,
  • biodiversity objectives,
  • and the desire to create a sustainable, productive, and living project.

Ultimately, the objective is to increase the biodiversity potential on the periphery of a hazelnut orchard, while

An Evolving and Open Project

At the heart of the project: the creation of an organic, local, and Belgian oil mill, on a human scale, valorizing the productions of the site and the region.
Chassart is also an open place: to agricultural projects, small-scale seminars, and forms of work more respectful of living systems.

A place inhabited, transmitted, and conceived as a complete ecosystem…
