What is happening in Bertrix?
It is a reforestation project where PlantC supports 870 trees across 1.76 hectares.
You are not mistaken!
Indeed, 15 species were planted on 2 adjacent plots, with 98% deciduous trees.

- Planting period: January 2024.
- Survival rate: verification in progress.
- 176.53 tonnes of CO2 sequestered over 30 years. PLEASE NOTE: There were no prior issues on these plots (climatic or sanitary). The carbon calculation is provided for informational purposes only, as there is no proven additionality. .
Project conducted in partnership with the Royal Forestry Society of Belgium.
It involves gap planting, the creation of forest edges, and the enrichment of natural regeneration, with the aim of restoring a diversified, edible, and forest connected to surrounding open environments.
Hollies, hawthorns, and medlars were planted as shrub species at a spacing of 4 m x 4 m, like the forest species, with the exception of service trees and beeches, which were installed at a spacing of 2.5 m x 2.5 m.
We primarily find melliferous species, with flowers, berries, and fruits, which are food sources beneficial for the fauna (insects, birds, mammals) present on site.
