Welcome to Pailhe at La Ferme qui Bouge! A family farm dedicated to biodiversity, the well-being of its animals, and its soils.

It spans 68 hectares, including 3.5 hectares of standard-stem orchard, 2 hectares of woodland, 5 hectares of pastures, and approximately 3.5 kilometers of hedges.

They produce mustard seeds, cereals, buckwheat, corn, lentils, peas, and potatoes there. They process a portion of their cereals into flour. About ten Aubrac cows graze on the farm and feed exclusively on grass and fodder produced on the farm. 5 beehives are located near the crops. Since 2020, the farm has been certified Organic Farming.

Under the guidance of Guillaume, the farm is moving towards regenerative agriculture through the Farm For Good network. With this regeneration objective, they plant trees and hedges. With PlantC and Trafic, we planted 233 meters of hedge. Recently, the farm has opened up to market gardening and tourism with the installation of a cabin.

Planting of the 233 m hedge – La Ferme qui bouge

The first meeting with Guillaume took place in March 2023. We took the time to listen to his concerns, to determine the linear features and functions desired for the hedge. It spans 233 meters and aims to strengthen the ecological network within the farm.

The Hedge: An Ecological and Nourishing Corridor

Meeting many eligibility criteria for its Takecare sustainability program, the company Trafic chose to co-finance the approximately 233 meters of living hedges.

On December 8, 2023, the linear planting was carried out. After close mowing, the planting team, equipped with mechanical augers, made nearly 583 holes to plant native species there.

When we addressed the chapter “Biodiversity” as part of our Take Care program, the team’s desire to take concrete local action quickly became apparent.
We then found in PlantC an attentive and committed partner, capable of offering us a solution that is both professional and has a strong impact on biodiversity.

Thanks to the network of farmers and market gardeners spread throughout Belgium, we will be able to develop a project near each of our stores by 2030.

Our decision to collaborate with Plant C is also based on the rigorous approach to selecting its partners: plantations are chosen according to the local biotope, implemented with care, and are subject to regular monitoring.

We are delighted with this collaboration, enriched throughout the year by clear information and constant visibility on current and upcoming projects.
