Poplars (Koster) were planted at low density over 0.77 hectares. These will be accompanied by regeneration natural, with beech being one of the main species. This therefore involves two parallel forest stands. In total, this project involves 1,154 trees, representing 390 tons of CO2 with the help of PlantC. A project carried out in partnership with the Royal Forestry Society of Belgium.

A poplar plantation with natural regeneration

This is a reforestation of a forest devastated after biotic attacks (bark beetle, ash dieback). The plantings were carried out in autumn 2020 and will be verified by the Royal Forestry Society of Belgium in summer 2021.

In Attert, it involves a poplar reforestation initiative carried out in parallel with natural regeneration primarily based on beech. This planting replaces a 0.77-hectare monocultural plot of spruce affected by a health issue. In total, this project involves 1,154 trees, representing 390 tons of CO2.

Visit to the plot in 2022

On June 15, 2022, the PlantC team visited the site. It is evident that the plantation is thriving!

Natural regeneration and poplars coexist to reforest this plot! During the visit, we observed the significant development of herbaceous and shrubby flora! A true refuge and feeding area!
