Visit to the plot in 2022

In June 2022, PlantC once again met with the foresters on the plot itself! Recent updates are published below.

The plantation is thriving. We enthusiastically explore the immense plot in the presence of Hector and Céline, the plot managers. They remind us of the plot’s history and the various challenges they have faced: the prohibition from accessing the plot during the swine fever crisis, the subsequent devastation caused by bark beetles, and, of course, the importance of reforesting the plot this time, following a diversification scheme.

A true enthusiast, Hector explains that it was difficult for him not to be able to access his plot during the swine fever crisis. Indeed, he walks the plot several hours a day and several days a week! We walk along the planting rows, observe wildlife passages, and note the importance of pioneering flora to naturally protect the young plants and, above all, to encourage the establishment of a welcoming environment for wildlife: birds, bees, butterflies, ladybugs, etc. Suffice it to say: it’s teeming with life here, and we feel quite small!

In 2021, the survival rate there was excellent. In 2022, it remains so! In parallel, the SRFB remains very well-informed about the plot’s evolution due to its scale and the objectives being pursued.

We conclude the visit. Our esteemed foresters thank us, as well as you, dear contributors, for supporting their project. But we also say THANK YOU to Hector and Céline for opening the plot’s gates to us, for taking the time to share their passion and knowledge! We leave feeling enriched and serene! The plantation is in very good hands.
