Panier Culture is a market gardening project started in 2012. Developed by Sophie and Denis, it relies on a motivated collective. Thus, market gardening on a human scale. And while the pursuit of taste is the main driver of this project, respect for the soil and price accessibility are its other pillars.

PlantC has chosen to support their project of linear diversified hedges. Linear plantings to produce soft fruits, for biodiversity and for biomass.

multifunctional hedges

These hedges enable Panier Culture to strengthen the diversification of its products by producing soft fruits and biomass. This also helps to protect crops from wind, limit erosion, and improve biodiversity by attracting pollinators and beneficial insects against
pests. This project was conceived and co-financed with the help of PlantC and the company Trafic as part of their TakeCare sustainability program. In total, 662 meters of hedges have been planted!

Mulching with Bioweedtex

The planting of the linear rows took place in March 2025 after intense periods of rain. To prevent weed growth at the base of the hedge plants and ensure proper management of the linear rows, we chose to implement a biodegradable geotextile.

The linear hedge consists of hawthorn, dog rose, rowan (mountain ash)*… A mixture of more than 18 different species of native trees and shrubs has now been planted.

When we addressed the chapter “Biodiversity” as part of our Take Care program, the team’s desire to take concrete local action quickly became apparent.
We then found in PlantC an attentive and committed partner, capable of offering us a solution that is both professional and has a strong impact on biodiversity.

Thanks to the network of farmers and market gardeners spread throughout Belgium, we will be able to develop a project near each of our stores by 2030.

Our decision to collaborate with Plant C is also based on the rigorous approach to selecting its partners: plantations are chosen according to the local biotope, implemented with care, and are subject to regular monitoring.

We are delighted with this collaboration, enriched throughout the year by clear information and constant visibility on current and upcoming projects.
