It was around her birthday that Claire asked PlantC to actively participate in a participatory planting workshop. Her goal is to raise awareness among her entourage about several themes dear to her, especially trees! In parallel, PlantC receives requests for support for planting projects. This is how the participatory project at Lizée Farm was born.

PLANTING TREES FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY, IT’S POSSIBLE!
Deeply committed to forest preservation, on the occasion of my 50th birthday in mid-December 2022, I wish to concretely raise awareness among my entourage about the importance of our forests as a tool in the fight against climate change and for the preservation of our biodiversity. The idea is obviously to raise funds on this occasion, but I would like to know if you organize on-site awareness sessions: information sessions, participation in tree planting.
Claire’s initial request.
Our first participatory workshop

Because at PlantC and Lizée Farm, we like to respond to requests like this. Combining a convivial moment in service of biodiversity. Specifically, a participatory project with PlantC means participating in the purchase of seedlings while getting your hands dirty.
On the agenda:
- being on site.
- raising awareness and understanding the importance of the ecological network (anecdotes about the species that make up the hedge).
- transmitting best practices to replicate them at home.
In total, we planted nearly 150 meters of double-row hedge with a team of enthusiastic volunteers !

Lizée Farm is a whole philosophy. PlantC wanted to be part of the concrete initiatives orchestrated on this Assesse site. The hedge borders a large-scale orchard of standard fruit trees. Lizée Farm is also involved in a pilot project for a fruit hedge, in partnership with the Walloon Agricultural Research Centre (CRA-W), Diversifruits, and the Federation of Walloon Nature Parks: Wal-4-Fruits.

No fewer than 12 species were chosen for this hedge, including field maple (Acer campestre), dog rose (Rosa canina), Cornelian cherry (Cornus mas), and rowan (Sorbus aucuparia).
End of the project with a smile
At the end of the project, Manu and Timothée from Lizée Farm warmly welcomed the group into the refectory of the co-housing around a good homemade soup and artisanal open sandwiches. The bread was produced on-site by Chloé, founding baker of the bakery “A Chouette enfarinée”.

To conclude, the PlantC team had a birthday candle blown out, a perfect way to end Sunday on a positive note!
