Kilometers of Hedges in Somme Leuze

Bart contacted us regarding the planting of several kilometers of hedges. His objective is to plant for increased biodiversity. Thanks to these kilometers of hedges, biodiversity will be able to spread from one woodland to another. Shrikes will be delighted to find thorny shrubs to hang their best prey on, and bats will be able to orient themselves!

Bart thus aims to strengthen the ecological network on his farm, while promoting a host of active beneficial insects against pests.

Hedges: an ecological and nourishing corridor

Meeting many criteria eligible for its Takecare sustainability program, the company Trafic has chosen to co-finance the approximately 2071 meters of hedges.

Linear Feature Connected to a Wooded Area

The planting took place during February 2025, after a period of intense rain. To ensure the success of this hedge, we opted for soil milling.

Mulching and Hedge Marking

The hedge rows consist of hawthorn, broom, goat willow, hazel, medlar*… A mix of nearly 20 different species of native shrubs are now planted.
